Forfeiture / flag falling

But under clock play there is a total reserve time. The player could not figure out the gin move before the time ran out. Perhaps he moved 6/1/off at first. Then he got flapped and miscounted the remaining checkers. Then put it back and played 6/off 1/off and double checked the count. He realizes he counted mistakenly the first time and sets it up again. Flag!

The director is called and he now gets a full minute to figure it out. That is my main objection. He could figure it out given the time, but under the time pressure he put himself in he may mess it up.

You didn't address that argument in your ruling. Do you discount it?
