A lot of his crummiest numbers are 4s, since the worst ones don't let him safety even one of his stranded checkers. So, I like 16/10, 16/13 to keep them bad for him, and also minimize his hitting rolls.
I don't want to get rid of the checker on the 20 because he can hit shots both now and later. Suppose White gets a 6-3...if I miss now, I might get another shot, but if the back checker is gone I have almost no chance.
An extra benefit of this play is that it provides the most covering rolls for the six point if nothing happens, but that's not the big reason for it.
