In Response To: Bill Davis on Time Clock Alarms (Jason Lee)

I have played tourney matches that nobody cared a whole lot about on Snowie, with the pip counter covered up by a folded sheet of paper. But that was against an opponent I trusted not to be doing anything funny. (He's not the sort to do so, nor does he have the computer sophistication.)

But what if someone had the programming for the bot to warn him in some way, such as a barely noticeable blink of light, or a scrunchy sound in the processor, that he should double? Similarly, it could give him pass/take decisions if so programmed. I don't think it's paranoid to think if you leave the window open, at some point a bug will fly in through it. Since there is no good reason to permit the use of computers, I wouldn't do so if I were a director. However, I might make an exception for diddly stuff like blitz qualifiers, if both players agreed and I had no reason to suspect the comp's owner of anything squirrely.
