I generally like being 7 away when trying to avoid hits. In this case it leaves a blot in our board. Is that relevant ? Probably not since we rarely want to hit.

The alternative is probably to minimize shots by not moving the rear checker at all. But the shots seem to come often enough in the next turn to compensate. I am not sure though.
