Congrats to Al on running off with a nice string of 5 pters to win the LC.

I played him in the 2nd round of the main and won 11-2. I just played my game but wasn't afraid to complicate but rolled well enough that all but two games were boringly straight forward with me grabbing a big 7-0 lead helped by him missing a few shots and dancing a couple of times when it hurt bigtime. At 7-0 he cubed my developing backgame when it was unclear who the favorite was and soon I had a very nicely timed 2345 backgame. I hit him as he was bearing in later he snuck away but an awkward 66 forced him to bear two checkers off and double blot. Soon he had three checkers on my ace pt as I was bearing off, but at that score, thoughts of recubing to 4 vs him never crossed my mind.

Next game was a backgame from him. I managed to prime his 123 backgame but could only force him to crash to a 3 pt board and kill one checkers as he rolled large numbers several times in a row. He later hit me in the bearoff and closed my out and cashed his first point.

In short, I didn't change my normal game much at all, other than to use a huge backgame as a weapon with a 7-0 lead.
