Intuitively, it does not seem that you would have a double at 0-0 but not 1-0. After all, winning 8 pts at 1-0 puts you at 2 away. Is there some conceptual point I'm missing?
I'm also not sure that the GNU rollouts can be trusted here. One would expect that cubing would increase your gammon percentage, as you will win gammons in some games where you would have cashed as a 2-cube owner. But cubing to 4 should also increase Viktor's winning percentage, as he only has to get to ~75% to cash, whereas you will need to play until 100%. GNU's rollouts do not seem to reflect that. For example, in the 0-0 situation, it shows Viktor winning 36.91% (cubeful) if you hold the cube at 2; and 36.94% if you cube to 4. But wouldn't cube ownership give him more than a 0.03% improvement, given that your take point of an 8 cube is roughly 25%?
