Question: What capital city is the furthest north in mainland Europe?
Answer: Helsinki.
OtB answer: Someone immediately suggested Oslo and I replied just as quickly that Scandinavia shouldn't be part of "mainland Europe". Nobody in our group argued that point and I still don't consider it part of mainland Europe even after all the muddled google results. My desired answer was the capital of Estonia which I knew was the furthest north in my mainland Europe. Unfortunately at the time, neither I nor anyone in the group knew the capital of Estonia. It is Tallinn, as mentioned earlier in this thread.
I would never consider Russia as part of Europe. When I say to ppl I love Europe never is there a thought of Russia. If I were to say I was heading over to Europe next summer would anyone give a thought that I might be going to Russia?? Wiki says Russia is considered part of Europe, then wiki says Russia isn't part of Europe, then wiki differentiates between "European Russia" and the rest. I find maps of Europe showing Russia then I zoom in to a specific part of Europe, like eastern Europe, where one would expect to see Russia, and all of a sudden it disappears.
Poor question IMO and if I'd have been able to come up with Tallinn I'd have protested.
