I've read and enjoyed both of Chris Bray's books that each contain 5 years of his London Independent newspaper backgammon columns ("What Colour is the Wind" and "Second Wind"), and from reading them I learned about the UK backgammon community and got the feeling that UK players are very much dedicated to the game. I've played against several of them in Las Vegas tournaments and found them all to be pleasant and interesting people. So who cares if British players or American players are better players. Just have fun playing the game and don't stereotype people based on where they're from.
