Allow me to stick up for slow players (like me).

You see, I actually enjoy thinking about plays. That's why I play BG. And I believe thinking about plays shows respect for the game. On the other hand, I think playing at lightening speed and giving little or no thought to plays is a little disrespectful to the game.

Clocks are obviously the solution, but I think the 12 second interval on the Bronstein clock is definitely too little. It take almost 12 seconds just to pick up, shake, and roll the dice. Why the rush when we have all weekend to play? I think an interval of 20 - 25 seconds is more reasonable.

By way, I do not think slow play is the biggest culprit in delaying a tournament. I think individuals entering multiple events, and poor pairing decisions by the Director are more to blame for tournaments falling behind schedule.
