I'll say it again.. two things.

On a normal Fri-Sun ABT event, players who are alive in the Masters or Amateur Jackpots should NOT (under no circumstances) be allowed to play doubles.
Yes..many Fri Jackpots have 2pm and 7 pm start times. But those start at 2pm (as I will be doing in Cleveland) should not be permitted to play doubles in a normal sized event.
Will I play doubles in Cleveland ? Maybe if I get knocked out of the Masters (I think I'll have to play 2 matches starting from 2pm) but unless the field is really small, there's no way in hell I wil subject myself and others to the conflicts that will arise on Sunday if I end up having a Masters semi and final to play while still being alive in the doubles and main, not to mention maybe the blitz if I have ample free time and great dice.
I'll say it again, and more forcefully this time.. if more directors wake up to the benefits of running a completely progressive LC, then more players are knocked out quicker, and there will be fewer conflicts with doubles (omfg doubles can be so sickenly slow) and masters on Sunday.
To the directors, many of whom I've known for most of the 30+ years I've been playing. While it is true that those that take the great time and effort to run T's should be able to run things as they see fit, it is also more true when lots of players are unhappy with certain things, that they should be looking for ways to limit this unhappiness or they will simply find fewer players in their events or side events. What this means is to consider the suggestions of others and to try to do things a bit differently. If it doesn't work out as well as before, so what, it's only one T, but if it does work better, then well...you've learned something and for the good of our game.
