Entering the doubles and a jackpot seems to be the rule rather than the exception, and the 2pm/7pm start times are engineered to allow players to play in both events. There are a few solutions for later conflicts: forcing players to play doubles alone, more widespread use of clocks (i.e., mandatory clocks), progressive LC, doubles starting on Sunday. But I don't feel that it's inappropriate for a player to enter both. Most TDs seem to believe that they can handle players alive in 3 events. Whether that's true or not I can't say.

My strong preference would be for more clock use. Outside of that, starting doubles on Sunday and running a progressive LC are good ideas in my mind. Prohibiting players from entering both the masters and doubles would be last on my order of preferences.
