In Response To: OLM Sat. March 31st (Stick)

I'm not sure safetying our blot makes all that big a difference in gammons lost, and I'm not sure we should be overly concerned with trying to save a gammon. We lose a good number after any play, and losing a single game leaves us a huge underdog at Crawford anyway. So, for me, it's a question of flexibility, and what getting hit does to our winning chances.

It's not clear to me how getting hit affects our winning chances. The timing could go either way. It is clear that we lose flexibility by piling a fourth checker on our midpoint, so I'm tending away from that. I'm also looking at whether leaving a blot makes it more or less likely that Stick can extend his prime. By moving up to the 14pt, the 2s and 6s he might use to make the bar point are duplicated. On the other hand, if he hits, he diversifies his point making numbers, and putting us on the bar gives him more freedom to make those points.

Since this last point is inconclusive, I'll go for flexibility and leave the blot. (If it's correct to pick up the blot, I strongly prefer 6/5 to 3/2. We want our 6 and 5 points, not our 3 and 2.)

bar/24 15/14 6/5(2)
