The Commerce Comet is Mickey Mantle.
Most regard/remember him as a power hitter.
He was one of the first, if not the significant first, switch hitter.
And, as I recall, he holds the record, to this day, of the faster player ever from home to first from the left side.
He was one of the greatest all-around players. Great arm, unbelieveable speed, great power hitter, great hitter for average.
He tore a knee up in the World Series in his rookie year and that compromised his career -- if you can believe that those numbers are compromised.
He also was a wild drinker and carouser which, doubtlessly, affected and curtailed his career also. He was from a family of miners and said no man in his family before had lived past forty -- so, he saw no need to take care of himself.
He said in his later years he had known he was going to live so long (he died in his mid-60's) he would have taken better care of himself.
