Well I usually just like to make my opponent play when I have a skill advantage. I have sort of given up complicating the game to produce more errors, I just play as well as I can and then let him make his mistakes and hope to take advantage of them.
Steve has a different style. He tries hard to reduce volatility hoping to grind a weaker player down. In doing so, he sometimes passes takes.
White has a number of advantages. Being on roll, with multiple builders, owning Blue's 5 point, and less dead checkers. Anybody would like to be on roll in this position, especially a weaker player! White should double and in a 4 point match only the take is in question... I have a feeling Steve would find a reason to pass it even with a slight lead in this race.
