Wouldn't the 10 point checker still be a builder on the 8 point?

Again, not how I'd approach this problem anyway but it's more important to keep the prime compact when hemming in against your opponent's backgame. With the builder on the 10pt & the 8pt you have 1s & 3s to cover because you will shift from 8/7 with an ace in most scenarios, whereas if you pick up the blot on the 10pt now you only have aces to cover.
