"When ahead, race." But here I'm not so sure. Maybe it would be worthwhile to look at this as a pay now (running off the 16) or pay later (leaving the blot on the 2 point -- so actually "pay less now") situation.

Is there life after death? -- Probably not. White has a very good board. (Pay later)

Is we don't get hit, are we gin? -- NO. We still have to safety the blot on the 16. (Pay later)

Is opp's position strengthening or weakening? - Probably strengthening. He's likely to strengthen his containment. (Pay now)

So, I vote for paying less now. 8/2 6/4.
