This position is somewhat interesting because White hasn't crashed yet and may crash if left to his own devices while Black sits on the bar. He also can't be pinned into a 1-2 game like he can here in Jason's problem, he's guaranteed at least a 1-3, and it's difficult to re-prime the 1-3 game from that position. Also his opponent can end up making the bar point, and you are hitting with a 2 point board vs. a 2 point board, not like a 0 point board in Jason's problem.

On the other hand if Lars doesn't hit he may end up with a perfectly timed 2-3, 2-4 or 1-3 game.

I like Lars's play but I can see the merit of keeping the bar point there.
