Stick: delete me if it's inappropriate to post this here. If so, I apologize.
Some of my other favorite early game dmp plays arise on the second roll. One of my favorites is a second roll 33 to play after your opponent has won the opening roll with a 31. For money, as you can double check on my site, the standard 24/21(2) 13/10(2) is the clear favorite. You make the best available anchor cutting down on your gammon losses and unload your heavy midpoint making a nice offensive structure which will also win your more gammons. However, as you can see below, dmp paints a different picture and reinforces a couple concepts which I've already mentioned. With a 33 reply to an opening 31, GNU and my lowly self prefer running out to the 18pt, 24/18(2). The most blatant point is that gammons won and lost no longer matter. There's no need to hold the anchor to protect against being blitzed if it's not your best option to win the game. The other concept(s) at work here I think are "when ahead in the race, race - especially at dmp" and perhaps killing your opponent's chances to prime you in any respect by running all the way out.
