for me it is still a "next" to enter the $1000 bracket since my ROI (not my EV) is better

Spoken like a trader used to thinking in terms of ROI. Still, it makes more sense financially to go with the spot with the higher EV since you can't invest the "other" $1000.

At least you know which choice is higher EV for a top player.

Also, both Chuck and I and others all pointed out that there are all kinds of other factors and assumptions involved. Desire to simply max out the number of live bg matches you play instead of hanging out somewhere with lots of pollen is one such factor. :)
