Chi-chi or death by chi-chi?

Hitting will give only 16 hits, compared to 33 hits when playing safe. But most of the 16 hits are deadly while after the 33 hits blue can still hit back and win.
And then of course blue loses some extra gammons when he hits; this tips me over the edge into playing safe.
