Actually, OTB I didn't expect to be playing any number, as I thought Steve would pass -- particularly a 4-cube against the dog.

However, Steve spent a considerable amount of time analyzing and considering his decision. We were chatting quite a bit and when he commented about how many pointing numbers I had I told him not to forget the pick and passes.

Ultimately, he took and I rolled 6-1, playing the pick and pass because of the pip count and the flyshot. He danced, I pointed with 5-1, and went on to win the four points and, ultimately, the match.

To answer your specific question, gaining even fewer pips with 1-1, 2-1, or 3-1, and with the continuing flyshot potential, I guess I still pick and pass.
