Very interesting I thought and I may have even learned something, go figure. Richard's play, the correct play, not only forms a gapped prime but also brings another builder into range whereas play B is somewhat inflexible, doesn't block as many numbers, but does make the ace point which is good for this score. As Rich mentioned afterwards, it's clear to make the prime at any other score.
The other play has the bonus of duping 4s to escape but it isn't enough to override the other checker in the zone allowing PoH #s + P&C #s next turn if the blot stays. It's also clearly best if it becomes a race.
