Openings v Weaker Players

Skill based bot rollouts are interesting, but I should point out my belief that while they give some insight into human vs. human play, they are not the same.
Bots of different skill levels fundementally have the same knowledge of all varieties of game types, but with some extra noice thrown in to the evaluation function. In a sense they are just as likely to botch a simple position as a complex position. So there are two things that will come out in the rollouts - any play that is likely to lengthen the game will give the weaker player more opportunity to make mistakes; and the skill difference will affect the cube decisions to some degree. And these factors will certainly give good insight into the skill factor.
However, amongst human players, they may truly not grasp proper play in more complex situations (e.g. prime vs prime or backgames) while they may may play quite well in more straightforward situations (e.g races and holding games). And they may not have a clue about proper cube decisions in complex positions. So I would expect the plays that tend to yield complex positions to be even stronger against a weak human than against a mentally impaired bot.
