For a neat way to remember the numbers - also considering what happens when Blue has less than perfect distribution - I recommend Michael Bo's 432 rule: http://michaelbohansen.googlepages.com/

Applies to the middle area (5-10 off), but you can sort of guess your way out to the extremes, noting that additional checkers on or off decrease in value.
