I don't think it is right for Rory to double ANYONE in the thread position -- the best player in the world or the worst player in the world.

I think Rory is just trying to rationalize something he now realizes was a huge blunder -- probably the old more impulsive Rory took over for a moment and he flipped it. Everyone makes them, learn from them. Eat the cake and move on.
