I agree with Bob. By analogy, I think Woolsey's doubling suggestion is a good one. If you don't know whether or not it is a take, you should double. The problem is that it is a decision making criteria based on what you DON'T know rather than what you DO know. Matt's rule of thumb is better than anything I've had for positions like this. But, it is also based on what isn't known. (When you don't know what's right, keep the cube since that will usually have the smaller error if you are wrong.) It is fine to use the rule when uncertain. But, it is better to replace uncertainty with knowledge.
