Old Position Revisited

Agreed.

However, sometimes when analysing like this I am afraid of falling victim to what Bagai calls "The Inflated Comparison". After seeing that the correct play may depend on the score (or the cube position, or the skill level, or some other secondary aspect of the position), it is very easy to jump to the conclusion that one play is best in situation A and the other in situation B. Whereas often it will be the case that one play is best under all circumstances, and could be deduced if I give myself a little more time.

Of course, if I am truly at a loss to find which play could rate as best regadless of score etc. then the best bet is to play according to score - this will gain in the cases where this actually is the decider.
