I disagree that in general snowie 4 is terrible at backgames.I am just now comparing how snowie evaluates backgame cube actions vs rollouts from article by sax and trice on gv and observes that in standard positions its evaluations are very good, though not perfect, and it makes mistakes in both directions.

However, as noted I agree it doesnt play this extreme situation with 15 men back correctly so rollouts here would probably be useless.

I still wonder though if its evaluations of either 1. 15 men back situation and 2. crunched backgame, atleast are somewhat close to the real life equities. If it is, it basically shows that the crunched backame, and the superovertimed backgame have similar equities. (extremely bad equities by the way) -- and this would probably mean that both the tactic of not hitting in order to crunch and hitting everything are both reasonable, but probably you shouldnt do anything in between.
