No David... Not me. My department has sent two strike teams to help out in that Santa Barbara is within 3 hours of us. We tend to send the best and the brightest over there.

I might still be one of the brightest, but I am no longer one of the "best". We send young men who look more like you... Not "backgammon bellies" like me.

I admire the way you stay in shape, it is good for literally everything. I should not still be a firefighter, the work when it occurs is beyond my physical capacity. I actually fear those kind of fires the boys in SB are dealing with. Mother nature can be a bitch.

Fortunately due to my experience and the eager attitude of the young studs, I am able to avoid most of the fireline duty. That is good for me, and better for our customers also. I stay home and man the stations instead of volunteering for weeks long assignments on big watershed fires out of county.

It works out pretty well everything considered. Thanks for the well wishes.
