Positions like this show one of the weaknesses of an error rate approach. Suppose you are playing an error rate match. You probably would want to double the first instance of that position type, even if you think (as you did) that it was not quite a cube. The chance of having a repeating error adding up is just too risky. So the method of judgement affects the choice of plays. The superior method of using the luck adjusted result does not suffer that flaw and you would just make the play you think is correct to win the match.
