Hitting with the 2 gets hit (by my count) around 20/36 in the next 2 rolls vs. around 21/36 for taking 2 off. So hitting would be my choice IF David had a CB or prime and could cube you out after hitting a shot. That's clearly not the case here since you're still (I think) favored if you do get hit. Therefore this position is really analogous to playing against a well-timed ace point game where you can either leave n shots and have say 9 men off or n+1 shots with 10 men off. The extra man off is worth the extra hitting number in this comparative position and I think it's right in yours as well.
