Another Example

I was just now putting in a blitz match against the MFIC. I found where he made an inadvertent critical illegal play right at the end of the match -- I probably wasn't going to win anyway, but it pretty much sealed the deal.
Perhaps the fact I was getting hammered throughout this short match caused me to lose interest and focus and not catch the play. I was down 0-4/5 and getting mauled again in the Crawford game. Came down to the position classique and I picked up both checkers. Of course, he soon made my deuce point in front of my five point prime. No problem, he rolls sixes to escape. But I gather them both up again and close him out. He still has both in the air when I clear the five point with a 5-1, keeping the six point. He dances. I roll another 5-1, leaving a blot on the 6. He rolls boxcars, AGAIN, and in trying to decide whether to play them paired or split he played bar/13, bar/7 -- neither of us noticed. Then I enter with a forced 6-4 and he jumps the last checker by me to easily win the game/match.
Hard to imagine from the position classique I gather both checkers, TWICE, and still manage to lose. Amazing.
And another example of how commonly the inadvertent, un-caught illegal play occurs. I usually see a couple in my matches every weekend tourney I attend and record.
