You're right, your play leaves only one blot so my play is not a "next", and maybe my play gets a donkey award from Neil. Leaving the blot on the 2-point, however, "feels right" to me, perhaps because of builders on the 6, 8, and 9 instead of just on the 8 and 9 (for eventually making the 5-point).
