Is this really true? I like to think I play my best game against strong and WC players. Certainly my tournament record has improved since I moved from the advanced flight to the open division, although it's a small sample.

I have a better match record against Richard, Ray, Neil, Petko, and Ilia than I do against a particular wacky and possibly insane intermediate player who comes to our club (and goes to tournaments). I dunno if it's sample size or something else.
