How to play illegally

Does chess have any specific rules for making illegal moves in time pressure? I'm pretty sure an illegal move in blitz chess is an automatic loss.
Illegal move in blitz is an automatic loss. Illegal move in classical chess adds 2 minutes to your opponent's clock (and you must move the piece you touched if legal). Opp's clock doesn't matter as much in BG.
How about this: for making an illegal move, you incur a 30 second penalty. If you have under 30 seconds of reserve time, then you lose all of your reserve time but do not forfeit. If you have zero reserve time and you make an illegal move, then you forfeit. The second scenario can only happen if you've made two illegal moves after you ran you reserve time down below 30 seconds.
Interesting suggestion.
One could incur a 30 second penalty and forfeit the time delay on the next move--or if you are under 1:00 just forfeit the time delay on the next move but no 30 second penalty.
