Containment concepts

I think the problem is the huge number of legal plays available, especially with small numbers; it's too hard for the bot to sort all of them out.
I don't think that's the problem. Computers are better than people at sorting out large numbers of choices. There are a few problems that converge to give bots trouble with containment positions:
(1) There are many different containment positions.
(2) Containment positions don't come up that often.
(3) Bots don't have a good concept of checker patterns independent of position. Most of the inputs to the NNs are fixed positions on the board and each pattern of checkers in a different position has to be trained for separately.
