Yes ... unless you know when to trap in limit, never trap! That's the rule. Here is what is going on in hand #1. First of all, I'm out of position. Who cares right, I have aces!? OOP HU with aces though my best bet on making some cash is not to declare "hey, I have aces!" If I cap preflop, lead out on the flop & turn, unless he catches he'll fold by the turn. So in this particular hand what would have happened is cap preflop $120x2 + sb/bb ($45), bet on the flop $30x2, bet on the turn & fold. The pot would have been: $345 (Q&D math, hope it's correct) I use this as the main example because it what is most likely to happen.

Now if I simply call preflop he certainly doesn't put me on aces, kings, queens. That flop is beautiful for me and what I was hoping for in this hand. I have no need to raise right off the flop, I feign weakness in simply calling, giving the impression I have an Ax because most other hands I'd raise (tens, jacks, etc...) There's no card on the turn that can come that would worry me, and at these stakes, 30/60, I'm positive he'll bet the turn when checked to.

The turn is another harmless card, now I'm pretty sure at best he's drawing to a 2 outer (a pocket pair) or if he's on AX he could be drawing to the deuce for a split. Any way you cut it I don't care, I still feel there's a very small chance I can lose this hand. Should I raise on the turn? ... that's the only question in this hand for me. It has been so long ago I don't know if I had notes on the guy or it was simply a feeling on how he was betting the hand, but I chose to check, and got paid off huge when I checked the river and he bet out (dumb) and then called my check raise (even dumber).

The pot ended up being $645, remember in the example where I cap preflop it was only $345! There are many variations in there of course, but overall at these stakes the best way to play preflop & flop is certain, turn & river is controversial, I could see an argument for check raising on the turn or betting out on the river, but I must have known something to play it the way I did cause I got paaaaaaaaaaid =)
