Chicago Final

In Response To: Chicago Final (Bill Riles)

I recall someone telling me that they had a discussion prior to the final and wondered what the line on the match should be. I think it was Bill and Rob Meier... Bill told me he guessed 65% and Rob had said 70%... So those were pretty good guesses.

I will comment on the 33 play under that thread, suffice to say that since the final I have uncovered a glitch in my game... That being that I was not pointing on my opponent often enough, when possible. I made a play that simply made a 5 prime and missed the recommended switch. I analyzed two online matches since in which I made similar mistakes, failing to point on my opponent and choosing a more pure and less aggressive checker play so I am not surprised to see a blunder of this sort, especially on a double.

I haven't checked my ER yet, but if Larry was passing takes... I may be getting gigged for doubling early, (I am sure I did that once on purpose in the match), when I should be getting rewarded for plundering my opponent.

Nobody wins 72% of their matches... Theoretically you should only be able to win 67%... or all the times you have better or equal luck than your opponent. Of course that is an oversimplification but you should have better luck one third of the time, equal another third, and worse one third. To get to 72% you sort of have to steal extra percentage points along the way.

What else could I do? I don't know, but I am tired of losing 14-15/15 in Chicago finals where I reach 14*-X/15. That has happened twice in my career now.
