Criteria for Giants in US and Overseas

Here is the problem, and it's one of the reasons that I have been traveling all over. The U.S. needs a backgammon federation. Now, the A.B.T. that Bill Davis runs is awesome, and it is a nice measuring tool, but what we really need is a world-wide unified body of rules and criteria. Denmark has one, France has one, and Japan has one...but we as Americans need to start one. All the organizing tournament directors do is awesome, but look at the numbers of participants that keep dropping. Plus, all the same faces year after year with only a few notable exceptions. I have a few ideas, and I would like everyone to share ideas on how we as a country should approach this. This is going to be a thankless and fucked up job, but I think we could increase attendance, get some sponsorship, and help the game immensely if we start putting together something soon. All right everyone, start fighting! Oh, and this will also help figure out who are the real giants of the game =-).
