Agree totally with point #1. It just seems wrong that someone appearing on 30 ballots could get fewer points than some random person that got a single #1 or #2 vote.

This could easily be overcome by just adding 5 points (or whatever) to each ballot appearance (i.e. #1 = 32+5 = 37 points; ... #32 = 1+5 = 6 points.

But really, I also think that a #1 vote should be worth more than just 1 point more than a #2 vote, while there is really virtually no difference between a #31 vote and a #32 vote.

Just playing around with some numbers, as an example, the following formula produces what I see as a better spread than the current system. If N is the rank a player appears in a ballot, they recieve P points where:

P = 224 / (N + 6)

The following point spread results:

1: 32.

2: 28.

3: 24.89

4: 22.4

5: 20.36

6: 18.67

7: 17.23

8: 16.

9: 14.93

10: 14.

11: 13.18

12: 12.44

13: 11.79

14: 11.2

15: 10.67

16: 10.18

17: 9.74

18: 9.33

19: 8.96

20: 8.62

21: 8.3

22: 8.

23: 7.72

24: 7.47

25: 7.23

26: 7.

27: 6.79

28: 6.59

29: 6.4

30: 6.22

31: 6.05

32: 5.89
