DC tournament Update

In Response To: DC tournament Update (Rod)

Okay, only two players paid $1K to get into the round of 16, myself and Grunwald. I think all others paid 500 and started in round of 32. There they found the likes of KG, Steve Sax, Petko, Joe Russel, Bob Glass, Rod et al.

I took a nap while that was going on. 10 qualified by winning and 2 others, equals 12 in round of 16. No messing around with buy backs and all that jazz, they just issued byes in round of 16... to 4 players.

I got a bye, so did Grunwald... When you think about it, if you paid $500 you had to play a tough player and had to win a match to become "eligible" for a bye...

I thought it was beautiful to be sleeping while many old pros were scratching and clawing at eachother. I ate a big meal first and got my body chemistry back up after difficult travel experience the day before.

I get a bye and had good dice vs. Grunwald, so now I am playing for 3800. I paid an extra $500, yes... But for $1000, I had, (in this case), a 33% chance at a bye, and with only one win I will be playing my next match with $3800 going to the winner.

Rod went the other way and had to win 3 straight to reach the same spot.

Next time, I'll pay the double entry fee again... 7 of 8 players entering the round of 32 do not make it this far, Rod was the lucky, (or should I say deserving?), one.

I am well rested and confident. Are those factors important? We will see.
