The bet and amount are accurate, I've known Mortie for many years, and we are certainly friendly. But I don't care one way or another whether he makes money with his book. It was Mort who, with a keen sense for hidden danger, figured that if I, who seldom bets with him, bet on a player he had never heard of there was a problem with his line.

As for Malcolm, when I mentioned the starting line on Richard to him he seemed surprised. And then told me I should have come to him so he could have made a much larger bet. Why on earth would I do that? Malcolm is also a friend, but so were most of the players in attendance. It would never cross my mind to seek out Malcolm (or a number of others who would be ahead of him on the list - sorry, Malcolm!) to alert him to the opportunity.
