He's ousted Nadal and other top names where one would have thought that he stood no chance of winning

Nadal has been pulled from the next tournament and is tentative on the Wimbledon front because of an issue with his knee. Nadal did not play well in their match for whatever reason. If Nadal would have brought his game he would have beat Soderling whether he was playing great or not in my opinion.

Setting odds, one needs to take current form into account

Not so sure about that...it's Sunday, Tiger is in the lead, that's about all I need to know about the tournament to set odds. It's Sunday, Federer is playing a guy he has more than dominated at every step, and it's the best chance Federer will ever have to win the French. Federer is going to put 125% out there, possibly more. It seems to me Federer may have a pretty solid game plan on this guy already.
