Thanks for shout out, Rich.

If I am willing to spend to travel to tourneys 20-25 times over the last 10 years including Monte Carlo and Nordic Open once each. The extra $100 causes chatter just because it was new but was not going to cause me to miss out. In the end, there really was probably only one or two locals that did not play because of that. The king of links, Mel Leifer even stayed at the hotel. Ed O, Joe Freedman, Alfred Mamlet, and KG played and a great player from the past (John Klein) unretired for the event. All local open players! John really screwed up my auction strategy when he moved to Open at the last minute.

The local intermediates turned out as well. We had several local young players play a first or second big event ever in intermediate and beginners. Frank Raposa (our best young local) and Geoff Cohen each placed in an event. My guess is that Geoff may have entered more events than anyone other then quickies. I am sure it was great learning experience for him to play doubles with Ed O'Laughlin. That is great for our local game and for the future.
