The tourney was "clock preference" -- Carol wished a clock, Joe did not, so the 'preference' of one player for a clock governed.

Carol used much more time early in the match but once she led 15-6/17 and then 16C-6/17 Joe became much more deliberate. Partly, I'm sure, because of the gravity of the situation with his back against the wall and partly, in my opinion, because he was faced with some very difficult rolls and decisions.

Carol finished with 4:02 left and Joe, a la Koca, finished with 0:14. Had he hit the last shot she left in bearing off, the next game, or games, would have been most interesting and difficult for Joe, I suspect, with the time consideration.

Kudos to CJC in the last game for pointing out to Joe his small amount of time remaining when he pondered a difficult play for a minute or so. I believe he was so focused on his checker play decision that he was oblivious to the clock and may well have timed out had CJC not said anything -- she spoke up with about 20 seconds left on his clock.
