ABT Point System Insight

Many of us have wanted to see the point system in the ABT changed to give players points for every win, not just for cashing.

I don't like it.

On a much smaller scale, our local BG club has a point system that is so heavily tilted towards attendance, that nobody is going to beat the guy who shows up every week. It's lame.

The ABT point system has had problems... for a long time, it excluded Las Vegas because it was the biggest tournament. I still cannot get my head around this... the American Backgammon Tour purposefully excluded the largest backgammon tournament in America precisely because it was the largest, and thus could unfairly slant the point totals. It's decisions like that that will doom backgammon to a second class game.
