IMHO, from my limited experience of playing with TCs other than 2/12, it really doesn't matter what the TCs are when you compare clocked matches to unclocked matches. Almost any setting (1.5/15, 2/12, 2.5/12, 2/15, etc.) is good enough to speed up the slower matches dramatically. It also really isn't that much more time to consider your decisions. Caveat: in short matches (e.g. 5 points or less), I think 2/12 is occasionally too fast, since I have played a few of these matches at a reasonableish pace and felt somewhat rushed. I have no problem with it in 9+ point matches.

It'd be fun and interesting to be able to play a tournament with TCs other than 2/12 and see how that compared. I'm open to playing on a variety of TCs...just playing a whole match on the buffer would be fun. I'm not opposed to speedgammon side events. At the same time I'd like to see how 2/15 and 3/12 and the like compare in practice.
