Thanks Chiva, you spared NO expense the accomodations were world class, a HILTON by god... No wonder it was more expensive!

I went up to the revolving restaurant/bar on the top floor and saw the White house, Washington Memorial, Pentagon, etc. etc. up there.

Your staff was top notch with Bill Davis, Jeb and Robin Horton and yourself.

You never complained once about attendance or money and you took the attitude that it might not work this year, but eventually it will work!

YOU also refused to prostitute the US Open by making it a rebuy event, even though that would have had a dramatic effect on your bottom line. Now that is a sacrifice that means something to me. You are the man, Chiva.

Your brought international nice guy Schmucki and his beautiful family, he deserved to be seeded even though nobody knew him, and he was a first class sportsman.

Your Pro AM was a great pleasure and learning experience for the amateurs. We played a HELL of an exciting match with Ed O and his partner even though we lost an exceptionally riveting DMP game.

You are a classy and fun loving guy... All you need to do is be like that online at GG now :-).

The Los Angeles players recognized a great opportunity to try and become the United States Champion. Some local players chose to boycott, which is their prerogative, but I don't believe that backgammon exists to support us. We all like to compete, like some people like to ski. Skiers and fishermen can't recoup their entertainment budgets. AT least we backgammon players have a chance to.

Nice places cost more, so there has to be a higher rake. The prestige of winning the US Championship is worth it, and I find it particularly UNIQUE and exciting that the US Open will be a travelling show!

I guarantee you there will be double the attendance next year.

Those of you who felt your equity was not sufficient to attend ought to compare your equity to Chiva's. Nobody's was worse than his, then take a look in the mirror and ask yourself: Do you like what you see?

I don't!
