ABT Point System Insight

I think ABT points should be completely segregated between Championship, Advanced/Intermediate, and Beginner.
Players within each classification would then know exactly where they stand within their classification. Perhaps trophies could be awarded in each classification -- I would think that might be incentive for increased attendance in those divisions (much as Championship attendance at the end of the year is enhanced by those in the ABT hunt). Maybe the top 5 beginners and top 5 intermediates have to move up each year -- or some variation of that. Or if one finishes in the top 5 in a classification two years in a row, or two years in three, they have to move up.
I find it somewhat amusing/frustrating that some beginner who hardly knows how to set up the board, wouldn't know a pip count if it bit him/her in the butt, and thinks match equity is a tie score, etc. can win a couple of beginner tourneys and have more points than many championship level players at the end of the year. Or, some sandbagging 'intermediate' could win the ABT without ever playing ANY of the best players in the country.
It would be analagous to Major League Baseball giving the NL MVP trophy to some Philadelphia Philly Class A farm league prospect that hit .380 with 80 home runs against, effectively, high school pitching.
