New Sultan of Second?

There are many fine players out there, but if they never actually attempt to win an ABT event, let alone try repeatedly, let alone rack up numerous successful one-loss weekends, they can't qualify for this honorable distinction. Stick is #1 hands down. He's not just the best in to have never won in various people's opinion (not to mention his own), he proves it with his consistent nearly perfect results.
Does winning the ABT title for the year qualify as winning an ABT event? IMO, winning the ABT is a better achievement, and one of which Stick is worthy, but no monkey off the back unfortunately. Stick's consistency in limiting himself to only one loss per event is impressive and positions him well to win the ABT without winning any of the events during the year; matching the feat achieved only once by the former and self-deposed Sultan of Second (and winner in LA): Ray Fogerlund.
Slow and steady wins the race. Stick managed to improve his position in the ABT standings by gaining 10 points with his LA finish and leapfrogging from 2nd place over Neil and landing himself in.. um... 2nd place. But watch out. This near-misser has cashed in 5 of 10 ABT events so far, and I think he's missed 2 of them. Nobody has ever cashed in more than 6 ABT events in a year and it is only June. On a pace to possibly break the single year ABT point total without having won an event? Scary!
All hail the Sultan!
Congrats to all the winners (and near winners) in LA. See you all in Michigan.
